After our 5 night stay in London, we opted to return to the Mediterranean Coast where we spent 1 day on a cruise exploring the town of Nice and said someday we would return. That day finally came, and after 2 flights from LCY-FRA-NCE, we arrived in Nice, France to perfect summer beach weather for 4 days. Our 3 nights would be spent at Hyatt Regency Nice Palais de la Mediterranee for 48,000 points, or pay $2503.61. 
Many people have had questions about the bus from NCE (Nice) airport to Hyatt. From what I read online, some said this was easy and others said the bus didn’t stop by the Hyatt. So after I read One Mile At A Time’s 50Euro cab ride for 3 miles from the airport to Hyatt, I would figure out the bus route once we arrived. The staff working the tourist booth and bus stop were helpful. I looked over the map and determined that Bus 99 is what we needed to take. Once you walk out of Terminal 1 (the door on the left), you proceed to the door on the right in this picture:
then directly in front of the ticket booth is where you stand to wait for Bus 99 here. The fare was 6Euro each (much cheaper than the 50Euro cab ride!), and you take this all the way until you reach the Congres Promenade stop (about 15-20min) Here is a picture of the exit:
Once you exit the bus, the Hyatt Nice is directly across the street – a stately structure that is somewhat awe-inspiring when you first look at it in the Med sunlight:
Once quickly checked in, we proceeded to our King room on the upper floor, which was very spacious with a large balcony that overlooked the pool below and a tiny view of the ocean through the pillars. Here is the entrance to our room:

When we arrived we turned on the TV but the volume would not go below “10”. I did all I knew when the TV menu to correct, so we called maintenance to figure out what the issue was. This took about 24hrs and 3 maintenance staff to finally get corrected. The engineer had apparently seen this issue before and knew to bring a USB that apparently “resets” the TV settings. First I had seen this before. But the problem was finally corrected so our neighbors didn’t hear our TV through the walls.
Another issue we complained about, but was never fully corrected, was the very dirty walk-in shower with mold all over the walls. This was your typical mold that wasn’t wiped down in the last few days, this was mold that was caked onto the shower walls for weeks, if not months, that the cleaning crew did not address. Very gross. Here are some pictures of the black mold on the walls:
We took part in the hotel’s beach area for 50Euro per day. YES, this is a ridiculous price. But apparently that is the going rate in this area as we check several other companies up and down the boardwalk. This does include come-and-go all day long, which is nice. And waiter service is provided at your chairs, which is nice. But $75USD is $75USD – that is the most I’ve ever paid for beach chairs. The only benefit was I would be getting bonus points for hotel charges :|. Here are some pictures of the beach area the hotel works with:
Note – bring your water shoes when in Nice because the beach is nothing but large rounded rocks to walk on. The beach club provides this walkway, but shoes are still necessary when walking around. There were many who braved going into the water without shoes, but it is tuff to walk on. Especially for children.
Overall, we had a great stay at the Hyatt Nice. The location is very close to Old Town, where we ate lunch and dinner each day. We’re not big breakfast people, and would rather have pizza than eggs, so we had some cheap croissants around the corner from the hotel from several small shops, and then waited until 1130A/12P when places opened for lunch to eat. Old Town is maybe a 5min walk. Very easy.
We would certainly stay here again on a return to Nice. We only stayed 2 full days for the beach, but if we stayed longer we would have purchased some cheap beach chairs that you can get for about 20Euro from the shops around the hotel. Here are some more pictures of beautiful Nice, France:
